In bonnet furnaces, the circulation fan can be placed in the base or the bonnet. The charging plate is more accessible than in a shaft furnace. This can be particularly advantageous for components that are difficult to charge. Furthermore, this means large furnace pits aren‘t necessary.
If there are several charging stations, capacity can be increased by using separate, removable heating and cooling bonnets.

How is the cover operated and secured?
The cover or hood can be equipped with various mechanisms: manual, hydraulic, or electric. Lifting devices oder cranes can be also be used , depending on the size.
How fast can the furnace interior be accessed?
Since the charging plate is freely accessible and often there is no furnace pit construction necessary, operation and charging can be carried out more quickly.
What atmospheres and processes are possible?
Bonnet furnaces support processes such as annealing, tempering, and nitriding; atmospheres such as air, nitrogen, and specialized nitriding atmospheres are possible.
How evenly is the temperature distributed?
Temperature uniformity is ensured by air circulation (up to approx. ± 1.5 K) and suitable insulation.
